The January Transfer window is here and these are our top five picks for the game changing transfers your club could make this month to revive your season!
Antoine Semenyo to Man City
The hottest property in the Premier League at the moment is Antoine Semenyo who has had a breakout season in the top flight and Manchester City want to capitalise on that. Semenyo has scored 9 in 19 Premier League games where he has been influential in Bournemouth’s surprise first half of the season.
Manchester City have booked a medical for him to take place on Thursday with the deal being completed in time for their FA cup tie against Exeter City on Saturday afternoon where he may not make an appearance but certainly will be inside the Etihad.
Semenyo’s reported price tag is estimated to be £74.5m and would be another key cog in the front three at Man City as he is able to bring something different to the squad with his acceleration and aerial prowess far superior to others in the league.
Federico Chiesa to Juventus
Chiesa was brought into Liverpool back in the 24/25 season as an important part of the club’s new look front three but as Klopp departed and Slot arrived, his chances looked slimmer as he hadn’t really gotten off the ground at Anfield.
However, Juventus are looking to repatriate the 28-year-old winger to revive his career back in Serie A as the Old Lady looks to get back into pole position this season after several title defeats to the developing teams around them.
Chiesa would benefit highly from this move as he is less likely to get gametime at Liverpool with the Reds already bringing in more attackers in this window to push him to the back of the queue. Both clubs need this move but Chiesa needs his career back.
Rafael Leao to Chelsea
Chelsea never stops in the transfer windows as their latest target is a big hitter with Rafael Leao being eyed up as one of Liam Rosenior’s first signings at Stamford Bridge. The 26-year-old has had a great campaign so far for AC Milan, scoring 7 in the Italian top flight and for a couple of seasons has been on English clubs’ radars.
Leao has scored in double digits for 6 seasons running and would provide goals in abundance for Chelsea who are looking to close in on the title race despite just being inside the European spots themselves. His price tag sits at €70m which in comparison to some of the Blues’ recent transfer deals could be a steal.
Manchester United in previous seasons have looked to sign the Portuguese international but have failed to put pen to paper with him so will he trade in Milano for South West London this January?
Raheem Sterling to West Ham
Sterling was once one of the brightest English talents to play for the three lions, big things had been predicted of him and his younger years reflect that with his goals and assists. However, gametime has been an issue for Sterling who has gone on a few loans which haven’t worked out.
West Ham though are in trouble and require a bit of attacking flair up top and Raheem Sterling can provide that for the Irons until the end of the season. West Ham have turned around English prodigies before through Jesse Lingard who joined in January 2021 and earned his place back in the United squad so could this work for Raheem?
On paper, this seems like a match made in heaven for the 31-year-old as it keeps him in London and playing Premier League football whilst saving a historic club at this level from relegation which by all accounts doesn’t seem right by the statistics.
Messi’s dream team continues to expand and Antoine Griezmann has been eyed up as the next part of the project for Miami as he looks to potentially switch from Atletico over to Inter this winter. The MLS is on its winter break following the end of the campaign but the recruitment never stops for a global powerhouse like Inter Miami.
Griezmann has had a decorated career of Champions League trophies, World Cups and Euros and now wants a quieter pace of life and in America, there is a demand for the 34-year-old. The Frenchman has never left Spain to play for another club before so it would also be a bit of a culture shock but I’m sure many who have made the journey from La Liga to the States could convince him over the line.
Antoine certainly has it still in the tank to provide a big performance on the international stage, just this time though in the MLS where all the stars collide in this modern day. A Hollywood ending to a fantastic career for the Frenchman.
