Arsenal go seven points clear with frustrating point at Forest

Arsenal had the chance to go nine points clear with a win over Nottingham Forest after Man city lost earlier in the day however, the Gunners were stopped by a resilient forest side who, played very well defensively.

Arsenal started the game on the top, and should have taken the lead through Martinelli who, somehow missed an open goal after a clever move from Arsenal after a set piece. The gunners were on top for most of half and could have been one nil up if t wasn’t for a brilliant last-ditch challenge from Murrilo on Arsenal striker Victor Gyokeres. Forest ended the half on top but couldn’t find the killer pass to break down the Arsenal defence.

The second half was very similar to the first with Arsenal having a large share of the possession but struggling to break down the Forest defence. The only big chance came from substitute Bukayo Saka who header was denied by an outstretched Matz Sels. Arsenal had a late penalty appeal waived away by the referee despite Ola Aina clearly moving his arm towards the ball.

For Arsenal it will feel like a missed opportunity with City losing earlier in the day. They didn’t play well but had the chances to win the match. There next league match is the visit of Man Utd. For Forest it will feel like a big point against the league leaders. They were very well organised at the back despite not doing enough going forward. There next league match is a trip to inform Brentford.
