The FA Cup has once again shown that it is one of the best club competitions in the world.
32 matches were played between the 6th and 9th of January to decide who will take one step closer to the FA Cup final at Wembley in June
Manchester United kicked-off the weekends FA Cup action on Friday night as they won out 3-1 winners over Everton, who are enduring a torrid season.
Tottenham, Fulham and Brighton were some of the other Premier League clubs to make it through after seeing off lower-league opposition.
The FA Cup always has the ability of providing a ‘cupset’ and there was quite a few.
Current EFL Championship leaders Burnley battered Bournemouth 4-2, Vincent Kompany continuing his brilliant first season as Burnley manager.
Blackpool, who sit 22nd in the Championship, beat a woeful Nottingham Forest 4-1 at home, the Premier League side having some good chances in the game but weren’t able to finish them off.
One of the games of the day was Chesterfield vs West Bromwich Albion.
Chesterfield were 3-2 up at half-time, Armando Dobra scoring twice in five minutes to put his side in front.
West Brom then got an equaliser in the 93rd minute courtesy of Brandon Thomas-Asante.
A 3-3 draw meant that the two sides will replay each other on Tuesday the 17th of January.
A potential cupset was on the cards when Shrewsbury Town took the lead in the 81st minute against Championship play-off chasing Sunderland.
But, a stunning comeback from the Black Cats saw them make it to the 4th round for the first time since 2015.
Their goals coming in the 92nd and 94th minute courtesy of an inform Ross Stewart and Luke O’Nien.
Also I would like to give a special mention to Chris Rigg who made his debut for Sunderland yesterday, at the age of 15.
Another big upset was League one Sheffield Wednesday beating Premier League side Newcastle United 2-1.
Eddie Howe’s Newcastle have had a flying start to the season, they’re currently third in the league and in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.
Two goals from Wednesday’s Josh Windass were enough to see off a weakened Newcastle side.
My game of the round was Coventry City vs Wrexham.
Wrexham have caught the eye of many people across the world over the last couple of years due to their new owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and are continuing to do so in the FA Cup this season.
Going into this cup tie Coventry would be the clear favourites as they are in the Championship and Wrexham are in the National League.
Wrexham were 4-1 up by the hour mark, with goals from Dalby, Lee, O’Connor and Wrexham’s star man, Paul Mullin.
Coventry who were down to 10 men managed to score two late goals to make it 3-4 but it wasn’t enough as Wrexham held on for victory.
