The Premier League is back in action this weekend with Manchester City having to travel to Merseyside to face Liverpool, in week 13 of the Premier League. League leaders Liverpool can take an 11-point advantage on City, if they were to beat them this weekend.
Liverpool have just come off an impressive 2-0 victory against Real Madrid on Wednesday night in the Champions League. Although it wasn’t a perfect night for the Reds, with Connor Bradly being substituted in the 87th minute due to him clutching his hamstring. That wasn’t Liverpool’s only injury scare, as Konate was seen struggling to walk off the pitch, with fans speculating that it could be a potential knee injury. In an interview, Arne Slot was asked about the pair and he said, “Konate and Bradly? They are still being assessed, it’s difficult to see where they are in terms of the injury.”
Whereas Man City bottled a 3-0 lead, finishing the game by drawing 3-3. City looked set to win, being 3-0 up with 15 minutes left of the game. But Feyenoord struck a dagger in City fans hearts with an 89th minute equaliser from Slovakian Defender David Hancko. This means that City now haven’t won in their last 6 matches.
Liverpool have been winless against City in their last 4 meetings, drawing two and losing two. But with Liverpool arguable being the best in form team on the planet, they have a good chance at winning.
I asked premier league expert Dan Passmore about his thoughts about the fixture and how he thinks that City need to play to stand a chance of beating Liverpool. This is what he had to say, “High pressure, Liverpool’s style of play is to pressure their opponent in their own half, if man city can counteract that and play their own possession game then that could cause an issue for Liverpool.”
If Liverpool win this game, then the Reds put themselves in prime position to win the Premier League for only the second time in their history.
