Nintendo announce new Animal Crossing update for January

Nintendo has announced that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will receive an update on January 15, applicable to both the original console and the Switch 2.

The Japanese company stated the newer console edition will come with multiple enhancements, including 4K resolution and mouse controls. Optional joint 12-player sessions for online play will be available, in which users can access CameraPlay using a compatible USB camera, allowing for in-game video chat.

Switch 2 players can purchase digital or physical copies of the improved game, or those who have already downloaded the game can buy the update.

Meanwhile, a free update will be available for original switch users, adding in new features such as Slumber Island, where users can decorate new additional islands. Kapp’n is being promoted to a larger role, like Happy Home in which him and his family run Resort Hotel, where players can decorate themed hotel rooms for guests.

Nintendo has also announced multiple collaborations with brands such as Lego and Splatoon, that will feature in the game.
