The long-awaited “So Close To What (Deluxe Version)” by Tate McRae was released last week.
The Canadian Singer announced the deluxe version of her most recent album after finishing up her tour on November eighth.
Within a week of the album’s release, it’s safe to say the deluxe version not only keeps the same style as the original album but it makes it better.
While the most popular songs on the album, such as “Sports Car”, “Revolving Door” and “Bloodonmyhands (feat. Flo Millie)” still captured the essence of ‘Miss Possessive’, fans were more intrigued on the newest five songs at the start of the album.
Out of the five newest songs on the album, my personal favourite is “Nobody’s Girl”. From listening to the feature song it captures the essence of Tate’s writing as well as a mix of her Tatiana persona.
My second favourite one has to be “Anything But Love”. The direct contrast from the opening song is a great introduction to the Tatiana we all know and love, this is definitely shown during the rap verses.
I couldn’t choose between “Horseshoe” and “Trying On Shoes” on which one I like more. Both songs highlight Tate’s metaphoric writing that she has been well known for during her career, although I am not a big fan of slower paced songs.
My least favourite, even though I love all five songs, is “Tit For Tat”. The reason for this song being my least favourite was due to it being released before the album dropped and hearing it on TikTok too much made me start to not be as excited for it unlike the other four songs
“So Close To What (Deluxe Version)” is out now on all streaming platforms and I recommend giving it a listen to.
