Plymouth Argyle have drawn Oxford United in the third round of the Women’s FA Cup.
The two sides are no strangers to each other, facing each other in the League Cup, as well as in the National League Premier South. On both occasions this season, Argyle have been the victorious side, winning 1-0 away, and 3-2 at home, after being 2-0 down at half-time.
As cup draws go, this one won’t be easy for Argyle. They’ll likely miss star striker Phoebie Poole after her suspension following a red card in the earlier round against Gwalia United, and Oxford will be seeking revenge after two tough losses to the Pilgrims previously.
The match is to be played on the 14th December, away at the M-Group stadium. Should either team win, they’ll progress into the fourth round of the FA Cup, where we see the introduction of WSL teams.
With form, history and a cup run all hanging in the balance, this fixture has all the great components of a great FA Cup fixture. Argyle enter with confidence, but under pressure, Oxford arrive with motivation and a point to prove. Only one can progress to the next round – both will be desperate to seize that opportunity.
