Forest’s Igor Jesus sinks Wolves to 12 points adrift.

Rob Edward’s third game in charge resulted in yet another defeat as Forest’s summer signing Igor Jesus guided a header past the in pursuit Sam Johnstone, after a lengthy VAR decision took the headlines of the first half as Forest won 1-0.

Omari Hutchinson on his first Premier League start sent a dangerous cross into the Wolves six yard box where the Brazilian striker glanced a header past Sam Johnstone to score the only goal of a very low quality game. There was controversy as Jesus scored, but if it wasn’t for teammate Ndoye standing offside in the eyeline of the Wolves keeper, Jesus would have had a brace.

The first-half started slow as Hutchinson blazed a shot over the bar from 30 yards out, before the VAR controversy ended a very dull first half.

The second half started bright for Wolves as new number 10 Jhon Arias missed a header from point blank range after good work from Andre in the middle of the park, who played it out wide to Tchatchoua. The wing back crossed a menacing ball onto Arias’s head who somehow missed the target. A very scrappy game of football was played until the 72nd minute where Igor Jesus put Forest in front to pile more misery on Wolves.

Wolves now look to the Red Devils on Monday night at the start of their difficult eight game run, where Forest now have Everton away. This win gave Forest an important three points and keeps them four points above the relegation zone, whereas Wolves now sit 12 points adrift from 17th place and look set to break Derby’s relegation point record.
