Netflix is losing Friends in 2026

Tragedy has struck time and time again when looking at the latest list of what Netflix UK is taking from us. On the chopping block for New Years Eve are 21 titles, the most between now and January 2nd. The list includes shows and movies alike, with fans aptly outraged.

Amongst them is the classic 1996 adaptation of Matilda, after just under two years of giving us nostalgia. The Half-Blood Prince and two of the Fantastic Beasts movies share that same fate, which paves for the rest of the Harry Potter series leaving Netflix.

The Big Bang Theory is also being led to pasture, despite their prequel series Young Sheldon still having a firm place in the streaming library. This is likely a hint that Young Sheldon will be following in the next year.

After years of being Netflix’s cash cow, Friends is amongst the many being removed on New Year’s Eve, proving they won’t be there for you. The contract was not renewed for 2026, as Discovery wants to run the sitcom exclusively on HBO max.

Now, with only 27 days left for so many classic titles, UK Netflix users are faced with the question this holiday season. Where are we going to find the time to watch and mourn the victims of this streaming massacre?
