Wolves beat fellow relegation contenders West Ham 3 goals to nil at Molineux to secure their first Premier league win of the season at the 20th attempt of asking. Wolves have now doubled their points tally, thanks to three first-half goals from Jhon Arias, Hwang Hee-Chan and a first senior goal for Mateus Mane.
Rob Edward’s also secured his first win as Wolves Head Coach and the club’s first since April 26th 2025 when they beat Leicester at home 3-0.
It took only four minutes for Wolves to break the deadlock when Mane brilliantly turned his man and playing through Hwang, who took it past Mavropanos before putting the ball on a plate for Arias who made no mistake to open his Wolves account. The Korean International’s game only got better when he placed a penalty down the middle to double Wolves lead after former AS Monaco youngster Magassa clumsily fouled Mane in the box to give Wolves a penalty. The first-half couldn’t have got much better for Wolves, but to top it off teenager Mateus Mane found space on the edge of the box, cutting inside on his right foot and rifling a low powerful shot into the bottom corner giving goalkeeper Areola no chance.
Wolves controlled the second-half and saw the game out, keeping West Ham’s forwards quiet. The full-time whistle blew resulting in loud boos from the away end, but loud cheers from the South Bank as these loyal fans were finally given something to cheer about. Standout performances from Tolu Arokodare and Hwang Hee-Chan were most notable, but England youth international Mateus Mane should take most of the plaudits as he ran the show, scoring his first senior goal on his home debut start as well as winning the penalty, Mane has made the ‘number 8’ role his own and further cemented his spot in the Wolves team.
Wolves Ay We.
