Manchester City’s Premier League match against Brighton at the Etihad Stadium ended in 1-1 draw, this expands City’s frustrating performances within 2026.
Man, City started the game with all the possession and looked comfortable while trying to pin Brighton back into their own half. However, Brighton still played some confident football and had two decent chances near the start of the game which saw Pascal Grob heading just wide of the post and Ferdi Kadioglu having a shot right towards goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Man City Broke the deadlock just before half-time. The exciting winger Jeremy Doku dribbled into the box and was caught by attacking midfielder Diego Gomez. This was originally not given as a foul however VAR intervened and the penalty was awarded. The sky blues main man Erling Haaland stepped up and calmly sent the goalkeeper the wrong way making it one nil to the home side.
This goal was a landmark for Haaland as this was his Hundred and fiftieth goal in all competitions for the club as well as the thirty-five thousandth goal in the Premier League history.
In the second half Brighton came out stronger between the two sides. This was shown as after fifteen minutes into the second half, the Seagulls worked the ball well into the final third and Kaoru Mitoma produced a composed finish from the edge of the box shooting the ball into the bottom of the corner. From that goal Brighton looked dangerous and confident while City struggled to create a chance to score a winning goal.
This result became City’s third consecutive draw in the premier league which dents their title race hopes and allows Arsenal to potentially open an even bigger gap at the top of the premier league table.
