Marjon supports our residential students through a team of Student Life Officers (formerly RLCs) and Resident Student Assistants (RSAs). The Student Life Officers and Resident Student Assistants are on a duty rota to support students out of normal office hours. Campus can be a lively place so the support team are on hand to facilitate with wellbeing, first aid and any other out of hours issues which may arise. If you are on campus and looking for help call 2222 from a Marjon landline or dial 01752 636700 and input extension 2222 when prompted.

Student Life Officers

Matt Hulbert and Sophie Corner are our Student Life Officers, they work within Student Support and are your direct liaison with support staff at Marjon.

Matt and Sophie are also on hand to assist with all aspects of student welfare.

Their responsibilities include:

  • Providing out of hours emergency support alongside the Resident Student Assistants (RSAs) and Campus Security Assistants (CSAs).
  • Working closely with Student Support and resident students on wellbeing issues, such as living arrangements, homesickness and mental and emotional health.
  • Maintaining good resident conduct.
  • Organising events to enhance the student experience and raise awareness of issues that affect students.
  • Mentoring the RSAs and ensuring accountability.

Resident Student Assistants

The Resident Student Assistants (RSAs) are on hand to assist with resident student wellbeing, and to help create a positive learning and living environment at Marjon. Being current students, they fully understand the concerns of resident students, and are happy to help.

Their responsibilities include:

  • Inducting new students and welcoming them to resident student life.
  • Advising residents on a variety of student living matters.
  • Safeguard on-campus students and respond to incidents if and when they occur.
  • Promote responsible behaviour on campus.

How to report an incident

More information

If an incident arises out of hours call 2222 from a Marjon landline (found in the stairwell in the halls of residence or downstairs in the village houses) or from a mobile dial 01752 636700 and enter the extension 2222 when prompted. 

If there is an emergency requiring the emergency services dial 999 immediately

and then call for security using the 2222 number.

Out of Hours Schedule

Weekdays: 5pm – 9am

Weekends: 24 hour cover

On each shift an RSA and a Student Life Officer will be on duty. When you call 2222 you will connect to the Campus Security Assistant (CSA) where you can inform them of the issue. The CSA will then attend the incident along with the RSA and/or a Student Life Officer if needed.
