Overview of Session: 45 minutes piriformis release in glutes and lower back effleurage and petrissage technique

Reflective Summary: Client was complaining of pain in glutes, so I performed piriformis release. And used petrissage and effleurage technique on the lower back – quadratus lumborum and lower erector spinae.

Areas for further improvement plus action plan: Patient should stretch out the glutes and come in for more regular massage

Overview of Session: 45 minutes chest and serratus anterior effleurage and petrissage technique

Reflective Summary: Client had been training chest the last few days and has tight serratus anterior and pectoralis muscles. I used petrissage and effleurage techniques. With the serratus anterior I also used a new technique of moving the arm through extension and flexion to get into different parts of the serratus anterior.

Areas for further improvement plus action plan: Client should rest and come in for regular massage

Overview of Session: 45 minutes upper back effleurage and petrissage technique

Reflective Summary: Client was complaining of muscle spasm in the upper traps. I gave them MET stretching to try and release tension. I then used effleurage and petrissage techniques on upper traps and the spasms stopped.

Areas for further improvement plus action plan: I have gave the client a regular daily stretching routine and they will come in for regular massages

Overview of Session: 45 minutes deltoids and biceps effleurage and petrissage technique

Reflective Summary: Client has been training arms at the gym 6/7 and has tight deltoids and bicep muscles. I tested the ROM in different planes- extension and flexion before and after and the ROM drastically improved without pain after. I performed mainly wringing, lifting and muscle rolling techniques.

Areas for further improvement plus action plan: Client should take a break from performing arm exercises and have a few more massages to release tension.

Overview of Session:45 minutes upper back and lower back effleurage and petrissage technique

Reflective Summary: Client is a 3rdyear at uni and has been studying 7/7. Because of this they have tight upper traps and lots of trigger points around the upper fibres of the traps. I used muscoskeletal techniques on these areas and was able to get the tension out from this for around 20 minutes work.  I also worked on the lower back for 25 minutes using wringing and skin rolling petrissage techniques mostly.

Areas for further improvement plus action plan: Client cannot avoid studying however can take regular stretch breaks and massages so I have shown them some static stretched to do in their breaks.

Overview of Session: 45 minutes deltoids effleurage and petrissage technique massage

Reflective Summary: Client had been performing lateral raises and therefore, has severe DOMS around their deltoid muscles. I performed petrissage techniques mainly swinging, rolling and lifting. The client’s ROM in flexion and extension client had strain in both positions. After the massage client had no strain.

Overview of Session: 45 minutes calf and quadricep effleurage and petrissage technique massage plus PIR stretching -15 minutes

Reflective Summary:Client has been running daily and also taking ballet classes which is putting strain on her legs. She had most pain on palpation in quadricep and calf muscles. She had muscle bulk in quads. Posture was good. I started using petrissage and effleurage technique on both legs. I then moved onto PIR stretching for both calf an quadriceps

Areas for further improvement plus action plan:I feel I could improve on communication to find the right pressure for the client.

Overview of Session:50 minutes lower back and hamstring effleurage and petrissage technique massage

Reflective Summary: Client has been training at the gym 6/7 and has right hamstring and lower back muscles. I palpated the Quadratus lumborum on either side and client had pain, I then palpated the hamstring and client had pain but not as much as the quadratus lumborum, so I started my massage on the hamstrings first using petrissage techniques for 10 minutes on each leg. I then moved onto massaging the quadratus lumborum for 15 minutes each using skin and muscle rolling and wringing techniques mainly.

Areas for further improvement plus action plan: Client needs to stretch out after every session and not perform any exercises that will strain their lower back. Client also needs to come in for regular massage

Overview of Session:  45 minutes upper back and neck effleurage and petrissage technique

Reflective Summary: Client has been complaining of pain in his neck and upper back from running and lifting weights 5/7. Client has got limited ROM in neck flexion. I used effleurage and petrissage on the neck to start with mainly using wringing and skin rolling. I then moved onto the trapezius’ using mainly lifting and skin rolling.

Areas for further improvement plus action plan: Client ROM in neck flexion improved drastically after the massage. And client was complaining less of the pain. I have suggested the client comes in for regular massage

Overview of Session:  45 minutes serratus anterior and chest effleurage and petrissage technique

Reflective Summary: Client had been lifting weights, mostly chest exercises 4/5 a week and has strained pain in his chest and serratus anterior. I massaged lightly around these areas as when palpating before the massage client expressed lots of pain.

Areas for further improvement plus action plan: Client is going to take a rest on chest exercises and come in for regular massages.
