Hours 144 – 145

In these placement hours was at American Flag training, the team where still training as they were unable to train during the year due to lockdowns and so was having a chilled-out training session till the end of the year. The individual who had mallet finger was still wearing his splint but was starting to be able to straighten their finger without the need of a third party. The individual who I was seeing in the clinic participated in training for the first time in a bit though they did play varsity they did not complain of being in any pain or instability, they also did not ask to be taped before or during training. Tom and myself completed a warm up and cool down for the team at the beginning and end of training respectfully.

I was trying to prevent an injury occurring within the team and make sure they are able to continue training till they would want to stop. The player who had mallet finger was excited that they almost had full range of motion back in their finger, we told them to try and not keep bending their finger, we also asked if they went to see a doctor and they still had not. The individual that had been coming into the clinic where grateful to be able to train again and surprised that they did not need any tape.

I felt quite content that everything was coming together players were coming up if they felt a niggle as well as the players, we had seen throughout the limited season being able to become pain free now towards the end of the year.

My actions matched my wider beliefs as I improved the team’s performance as well as reducing the possibility of injury. I did not act in an uncharacteristic way and did act with the best intentions of the team and their players.

Tom was at the training session again we both planned the warmup and cool down for the team as well as discuss everything we do to help the individual players. This helps in reassuring our decisions that we make in the treatment of players. If Tom was not there, I would still act the same but would hesitate a bit more with making decisions to make sure that it is the right decision.

This training session was very similar to the last one as it was a very chilled and relaxed session. Even now when completing the teams cool down which is where I struggled earlier on in the year, I am feeling more confident in telling the players what to do.
