Profile

I am a hard-working and determined yet enthusiastic individual, with over 5 years worth of experience working in the sports industry. Working with young people in many different formats and locations within a coaching role has enabled me to develop strong communication skills and patience.

I am an enthusiastic and ambitious individual who is always seeking out new opportunities for development and learning, and I am keen to gain as much experience within the football coaching and sport & health industries.

Currently I am undertaking a degree course (BSc) at the University of St Mark & St John, studying Sport & Exercise Science. Modules include physiology, psychology, strength & conditioning and biomechanics.

Education

A Levels

  • 3 A Levels completed at Devonport High School for Boys. Religious Studies (B), Government & Politics (C) and Psychology (C).

GCSE’s

  • 10 GCSE’s at A-C, including English Language (A), Mathematics (B), Religious Studies (A), Biology (B), Chemistry (B).

Experience

Argyle Community Trust: April 2013 – present

  • Currently I work on delivery on a variety of projects ran by the club, including Premier League Primary Stars, + Sport, Move & Learn. Other work includes delivering PE sessions in school, working at after-school-clubs as well as Progression and Development Centres.
  • From September 2016-August 2017 I worked as an Apprentice Community Coach at the Trust, involving similar work to what I do currently, and enabled me to achieve an award in PE teaching as well as begin my FA Level 2 in coaching football.
  • This job has been excellent for improving my enthusiasm for coaching as well as my time management and resulted in me being rewarded for my hard-work with more hours given to me on the exciting projects mentioned that Plymouth Argyle deliver.

Plymouth Argyle Centre of Excellence: April 2018-present

  • Work at the Plymouth Argyle Centre of Excellence started in April 2018 after being invited to work for the Centre by the lead member of staff.
  • Currently incorporates cover for coaches who are absent, but will involve working with two age groups consistently from the start of the next season.

Plymouth Marjon Youth FC: March 2017-present

  • Currently involves working with two different youth teams at Plymouth Marjon FC, an U16’s team and an U11’s team. This has included lots of responsibilities, including coaching, managing, organizing sessions and matches as well as dealing with a variety of different characters – both in the children and from parents.

Primark Customer Services: August 2015-June 2016

  • Worked on the Customer Service Desk at Primark, which included dealing with a huge variety of people including customers, co-workers and bosses. Learning to deal with complaints and handle money has led to the development of skills which has aided my most recent work, such as working within a team as well as patience when the time is appropriate.

Awards And qualifications

  • Valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service).
  • FA Emergency First Aid Award and FA Safeguarding Children Award.
  • FA Level 1 in Coaching Football (achieved December 2015).
  • FA Level 2 in Coaching Football (achieved February 2018). Incorporates the old FA Youth Module 1 and FA Youth Module 2, and involved two assessments before being eligible to pass the course. Completed over the course of nearly a year of study.
  • 1st4sport Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport.
