The Varsity sporting events kicked off on 5th of May, instead of the usual mass spectator sports, the student unions opted for a behind closed doors method with all events being livestreamed via the Marjon and UPSU Facebook pages.
As per the previous years the Varsity is being run as a charity event with Plymouth University opting to support Teenage Cancer Trust charity and Marjon supporting the Young Minds charity.
Marjon have jumped ahead of the opposing Plymouth University beating them in Women’s football, Men’s 4th, 3rd and 1st football as well as Golf putting them at a 10 – 6 lead.
Meanwhile Plymouth University have managed to secure points in Women’s Hockey and Rugby as well as Men’s Football 2nd.
The next game to take place today and will be Men’s Lacrosse at 16:15 and can be viewed live on the Plymouth Marjon University Facebook page.
Marjon have managed to secure a good lead but they haven’t won just yet, they’ll need to win at least three out of the remaining six matches to win.
If Marjon do win this year it will be the first time they have won Varsity since 2012.
If you would like to donate to support either the Teenage Cancer Trust or the Young Minds charity, there are Just Giving and GoFundMe pages set up.
