Barjon has recently cancelled its Sky Sports subscription and many students are unhappy about the change.
Sky Sports have the rights to 128 games a season and first-year students have found themselves searching for alternative solutions to watch live games.
A fresher that would regularly visit Barjon said: “Cancelling sky sports has negatively impacted the atmosphere and has made watching football games harder of me and my friends.”
Another student, Charlie Austen, told me that “Barjon used to be the place to hang out and watch sports but now we have to crowd around a laptop in the kitchen to watch football or rugby”
Barjon claimed that the cost of Sky Sports every month became too expensive to maintain however this decision has been deemed questionable as students coming in to watch matches would often spend money on food and drinks before, during and after a game.
