After 10 long years, Guenther Steiner has left his role as Team Principal of HAAS Formula 1 team, being replaced by Ayao Komatsu.
The Italian was the third longest-serving team principle and actually a very popular character in the sport. Some could argue how throughout his years with HAAS, Steiner didn’t really improve his team and it was more Kevin Magnussen who brought them back to life when he rejoined in 2023.
The five exhilarating seasons of Drive To Survive which starred Steiner frequently also showed his characteristic side which many viewers found entertaining. Although he may not of improved his team to a certain extent, fans didn’t hate him as he gained more support by having a sense of humour.
Many will miss seeing Steiner on their TVs most weekends, however his replacement Ayao Komatsu may bring something to the HAAS F1 Team which Steiner never managed. Komatsu has over 20 years of experience in Formula 1 so could possibly maximise the teams potential in the 2024 season.
