Everton’s season has gone from bad to worse, after key midfielder Karoline Olesen will now be out for a lengthy period of time, after picking up an injury during Sunday’s home match.
Olesen left the pitch on a stretcher in the closing stages of the 2-0 win over the Hammers.
Toffees boss Brian Sorensen said after the game. “It’s not a broken leg, which we thought at the beginning, she’s not very well. It looks like the quad muscle was not attached. It doesn’t look very good. It’s a big injury”.
Everton confirmed that Olesen, who is only 19, has received stitches in her thigh and will begin rehabilitation.
Toffees boss Brian Sorensen initially said the injury was a “bad one” and feared that the young midfielder had broken her leg.
Sunday’s victory takes Everton to ninth in the Women’s Super League table and they take on second-placed Manchester City in their next outing on 2nd March.
