Plymouth DJ aims to break Guinness World Record by attempting a 72-hour set for charity

Plymouth-based DJ Aldo Vanucci is attempting to break a Guinness World Record for charity by live-streaming a 72-hour set from the popular club The Depo, known for their house and techno events. Vanucci began the live stream DJ set on Thursday just after midnight and will continue into the early hours of Sunday. So far he has already raised £615 for the chairy ‘Thinking Autism’ which is more than half of his target of £1000.

As shown on their website Thinking Autism “provides information and support to families and individuals affected by autism with the aim of improving quality of life and reducing disabling symptoms of autism.” The charity is run by volunteers, all of whom are parents of children with autism. Aldo’s son, Alfie, has Autism therefore the cause is very much close to his heart.

Many supporters of Aldo’s Guinness World Record attempt shared their solidarity and support over social media.

One wrote “My mate @thealdovanucci has just started dj’ing for 72 hours!!! It’s for a really great cause, donate / support him if you can xx”

Another said “Absolute mad man @thealdovanucci is playing 72 hours straight in @thedepovenue, go on Aldoooo!!”

Fellow DJ and old friend of Vanucci, Fat Boy Slim also shared his support for the cause in an Instagram post that stated “My dear old friend Aldo is doing something very foolish for a very worthy cause. Please!”

Vanucci played to an audience in The Depo whilst still on live stream last night, where he held a drum and bass special.

Ryan Platts, the co owner of The Depo said “Mans just played to a full club, now carrying on, 22 hrs to go!”

The Depo will be open to the public again this Saturday night for a house and techno night. The event is free to attend, but they kindly request a donation to Vanucci’s charity fundraiser; donations are also accepted online, and the stream can be viewed by clicking here.
