Qatar and FIFA have supposedly made little progress in compensating families for the loss of loved ones after roughly 500 migrant workers lost their lives making the 2022 World Cup possible.
“Throwing money at the situation isn’t the right way to deal with the case, and that amount of people dying should not happen in the first place”, said Will Scawn, Journalist at Marjon University.
“If Qatar and FIFA were in the family’s shoes, they wouldn’t accept the money.”
After generating six billion pounds from the 2022 World Cup, FIFA decided to set up a legacy fund directed at education, despite calls towards a compensation fund for the families.
