A damp room infested with mould is not something you want to be dealing with, however, some students at Marjon have that exact problem. When coming to university, whatever you are studying tends to be the focus, but in this case, lots of students are worrying about their living situation and whether it is becoming unsafe.
Lewis Beswetherick, a resident of Tufnell Hall answered some questions and said: “When I moved in, my bathroom wasn’t very clean as there was lots of mould in the corners of the room, however, the shower was the worst because the floor was essentially covered in mould.”
Because of this situation, cleaning the mould yourself is something a lot of people are resorting to, and Lewis said: “I had no choice but to clean all of it and this made me quite concerned of what it could do to my health.”
Unfortunately, removing the mould yourself is not a permanent fix and when asked if he is worried it will return, Lewis said: “Yes, I am because there is terrible ventilation in there meaning it can get quite damp after having a shower.”
The mould at Marjon is clearly a big issue and is constantly interfering with the students – so will this infestation be investigated or just left for the residents to deal with?
