The Journalism and Media department at Marjon has already formed good ties with the fantastic people down at BBC Southwest located on Seymour Road in Plymouth.
Over recent years Marjon’s journalism program has benefited from guest speakers and lectures run by seasoned professionals from the BBC, as well as chances for work experience and feedback sessions.
JAM students have had great opportunities to hone their skills and make an impact on people who are working in their chosen field.
We’re delighted the BBC has been happy working alongside Marjon to help grow a new set of budding journalists and last week it was announced that Marjon was able to take over the historic space where BBC Southwest had been broadcasting since the 30s, but have since left vacant to use their new multi-million pound location next door.
This is going to be a major boost to the journalism course here at Marjon, giving students hands on experience working in state of the art, professional studios with close proximity to one of the worlds leading news media corporations.
It is hoped that students on Journalism programmes will be taught there from early 2019.
Now if that’s not something worth shouting about, I don’t know what is!
