In this session a female client aged 19 was treated. The client has recently suffered with pains in the lower back. This has caused problems throughout her studies when sitting at a desk and her involvement in sport, most particularly hockey.

After beginning with a light effleurage, the lower back was treated using petrissage techniques such as kneading and wringing. Using these deep tissue techniques helped to relieve pain and increase movement within the lower back, as well as helping to improve her posture.

After the massage, the clients posture had improved as they were able to stand without having to slightly lean forward. Also, the client claimed that the pain in the lumbar region of the back had decreased. However, there will need to be a follow up appointment to assess whether there are any further problems within the lumbar and if there has been any more improvements in posture. More postural assessment and spinal assessments can be made to help determine this.
