Total amount of hours: 10

In this session a client who is 18 years old and plays for a woman’s football team was treated. She had complaints about pain in her calfs which causes her discomfort when she plays football. This pain was caused by a tightness at the gastrocnemius muscle.

The clients right gastrocnemius was much tighter than the left, after questioning which was her more dominant foot it was clear that this was the main cause of pain. After petrissage techniques were then applied which started to cause the client some discomfort at times. After asking the client to describe the pain on a scale of 1-10, she answered 8. Less pressure was then applied and different techniques were used.

Another session will be needed to assess the mobility of her leg muscles, and to see whether there are any other underlying problems caused by other muscles or possible injuries. An ankle and knee assessment can be carried out to determine whether there are any underlying problems.
