22/02/21 – 5 Hours: Online Sessions,  Table Tennis Needs Analysis & Risk Assessment

Jumped on this fairly late and ended up with Table Tennis as all other teams were taken. I has no idea Table Tennis was even really a sport but vivki advised a quick search and I would find plenty of literature that I would use for the needs analysis. I led the needs analysis, which took longer than I would’ve liked however, this sport was entirely new to me so required a lot of reading. Sadly we were unable to reach the team directly so was only able to so a sport analysis, not player. In reviewing the below papers, I learned that table tennis is a far more demanding sport than I realised.

Cullen, the year 2 who is working with me on this. He seems like very diligent and did a great job with the risk assessment.

30/03/21 – 1 Hour: Programming

Annoyingly, the team were not particularly engaging with S&C. As a result it took weeks to get them all together to do the testing. When we finally did I was unable to attend so the year 2 did it and recorded it for me. Based on this I created the attached programme. I planned to run weekly group sessions and provide individual plans where required.

TT Programme

On 2 occasions I had joined a teams call to deliver the session and no one turned up. For now I have decided to send them the programme and not pursue anymore sessions with them. It was a shame as I was looking forward to working with a new sport but unlike contact sports I assume supplementary training is less of an attraction.
