Jamal Salawu Reflects on Youth Fa Cup Victory

Jamal Salawu Happy with Team Win

Goal scorer and match winner, Jamal Salawu, was pleased that Argyle’s team effort saw them through to the second round of the Youth FA Cup

Salawu, who also scored in the league at the weekend vs. Cheltenham Town, was asked what the feeling was like at full-time.

“Full-time, we knew we came out with the win, and we just thought that was the main thing. As long as we get the win and go through to the next round, we’re all happy”.

Argyle’s win would not have been without Angel Waruih conversion from the spot just under the 20-minute mark.

Although dominating the first half, Argyle’s youngsters conceded an equaliser deep into the first half.

Salawu pounced upon a goalkeeper mistake to restore Argyle’s lead in the second half.

Salawu also credited senior players for bestowing personality and character for their win on Tuesday night.

“A big thing for our team is building personality and character, and we have been touching on that all season.”

“With the senior players and the younger players coming in, it’s coming through the academy. “

Argyle’s Youth FA Cup success makes it two consecutive wins for the U18s. Another triumph on Saturday against Portsmouth would mean the U18s haven’t dropped a point in four league games.

When asked what lessons were learnt on Tuesday and what would be brought into the next game, Salawu said: “No matter the opposition, you just got to play the Plymouth way. And then, the way we play can win us the game”.
