A new Marjon international students society has opened its doors on campus. Their aim is to expose more students on campus to different cultures and celebrate different parts of the world.
I spoke to the society’s treasurer, Spencer Grout, about their upcoming plans, and he stated that: “The committee aims to plan lots of trips around the UK, one of our upcoming ideas is a trip to the lake district, we aim to take some people who have not left the county much and expose them to more parts of the UK”
The society currently has three members and is hoping to open its doors to more international students as well as those from the UK. Spencer also said that: “With Marjon being a small university, I thought it was important to expose students around campus to other cultures.”
The society has already made a start and looks to continue this momentum throughout December. Spencer said that: “We are planning a trip to the Christmas market in conjunction with the chaplaincy and the octagon, there will also be pub quizzes held at Barjon with the theme of international cultures, the date is unconfirmed.”
Overall, this new society seems to be off a flying start and each member is extremely excited to see what will come of their new venture.
