James was fortunate to avoid a red card during Chelsea’s heavy 4-1 WSL defeat to Arsenal as she appeared to stamp on Lia Walti
Having been sent off for a stamp during last summer’s World cup in England’s win over Nigeria, James repeated the action against Arsenal but was only yellow-carded.
The incident occurred in the 70th minute of the match at the Emirates Stadium, where the winger was substituted five minutes later by blues boss Emma Hayes.
This occurrence was compared to the situation that had happened at the World cup last summer, where James was sent off for stamping on the back of an opponent during England’s last-16 match against Nigeria, which caused a lot of controversy.
James is one of the most prodigiously talented players in England but this second act of petulance in six months risks her talent being undermined by her temperament.
