Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves has said that “people are still worse off because of tax increases” following Jeremy Hunt’s Autumn Statement.
Ms Reeves said: “We would’ve put more money into the National Health Service by getting rid of the non-domicile tax status.”
One of the key points from his statement was that the National living wage will be increased to £11.44 per hour and National insurance being cut to 10% in April 2024.
This will not necessarily benefit low-earning workers, despite the attempt to do so. She said: “working people are going to be paying more taxes at the end of this parliament than they were at the last parliament.”
