A Fans Perspective on Plymouth Argyles Season

I recently sat down with lifelong Plymouth Argyle fan Lewis Rogers, and I interviewed him about Argyles most recent away defeat to Exeter City, Argyles performances this season, the impact Ryan Lowe has had on the club, and their future prospects for the season ahead.

JF: “This weekend’s result [against Exeter City] wasn’t the best, what’s your view on what unfolded?”

LR: “I don’t really know where to start to be honest, we we’re poor from the start. We had a good 5-minute spell at the start, and it went all downhill from there, then they [Exeter] were awarded a soft penalty.

JF: “Do you think the penalty changed the game?”

LR: “To be honest it’s hard to tell. Away from home we’ve been pretty poor all season, at home we’ve been bullying teams, and we just can’t seem to do it away. At the end of the day we still lost and got thumped by our nearest rivals and that’s always going to hurt.”

JF: “Going off of your good home record how has the season been as a whole so far? Has it been what you expected?”

LR: “Going off Ryan Lowe being previously at [former League One club] Bury, we’re probably where we deserve to be. We’ve been dominating at home, only losing once, away from home has been getting better but the last game [vs Exeter] was poor. But we’re probably where we deserve to be [10th position], scoring goals but conceding just as many.”

JF: “Speaking of Ryan Lowe, what’s the impact he’s had on the club?”

LR: “At the start everyone was on a high and loving it, but it’s fair to say that the honeymoon period has finished. As recent results haven’t really shown what we’re capable of. The squad he’s [Lowe] brought in has some quality players. We have Danny Mayer, who was probably our best player in League Two last season, but we haven’t seen that much of him so far, only time will tell.”

JF: “So what are your hope for the rest of the season, do you think you can reach the play offs?”

LR: “It can only go up from here, I think. The squad we’ve got, and hopefully we can build on that in January [the transfer window], definitely has the ability to get to the top 3 [in the league] but only time will tell, it just depends how we pick up form from here, because the last game hurt”
