Manchester City host the second leg of the tie on the 29th of January, with kick-off at 19:45.

21:53 – RESULT – Manchester City win 3-1, their first win at Old Trafford in a cup match, .

21:51 – Mike Dean gets in the way and gives United a drop-ball. Nothing comes of it and Dean blows for full time.

21:49 – City apply a lot of pressure to United but United’s defence stay’s tight and clear anything goal-wards.

21:37 –  De Bruyne gets flattened under a 50-50 challenge and is subbed-off for Gabriel Jesus, looks like just precautionary from Pep.

21:33 – The United goal was classic Marcus Rashford, running in from mid-right and shooting early in the box to the bottom left corner.

21:29 – City go close to restoring their three goal cushion, Silva plays Sterling through, who doesn’t seem too eager to shoot, he flicks the ball to Mahrez who volley’s straight to de Gea.

21:20 – Sterling goes down in the box, Mike Dean waves no foul, United go back up the other end and earn a free kick, Otamendi, meanwhile earns himself a yellow. Rashford sends the ball over the crossbar.

21:17 – James gives Otamendi a shove over Bravo, their second coming together in as many minutes.

21:10 – Fred goes into the book for a cynical challenge on Silva

21:08 – Both Pereira and Fernandinho try occupy the same space at the same time, Pereira comes off worse but no foul given.

21:03 – The poor performing Lingard comes off and the veteran Matic replaces him, United kick-off for the second half. United come out hard, Matic plays a ball through the City defence, Rashford controls it near the base line sending it back to Fred who exchanges passes with Brendon Williams, Williams’ shot is weak and Bravo easily deals with it.

20:54 – Both Fred and Lindelöf made mistakes for each of City’s first two goals. Fred eased off on Silva as he was taking the shot and Lindelöf was caught out of position and slid in desperately to cut the ball out, giving Mahrez the time to take the ball around de Gea. For Pereira he was getting back and the ball’s been deflected into his path, if he hadn’t scored, Sterling, just behind him, would have. It was unlucky for the Brazilian.

20:47: HALF-TIME, Manchester City already have a firm hand on the tie as they end the first half 3-0 against United.

20:44 – Sterling misses two chances in the space of a minute. De Bruyne creating both, the first Sterling puts wide, but from an offside position. With the second he fluffs his lines and ends up clearing the ball.

3-0 to Manchester City

20:33 – GOAL, City – Silva controls a clearance and sends a killing ball through to Mahrez, Mahrez steers round de Gea and calmly slots into the empty net to make it 2-0

20:31 – James wins a corner for United, Fred goes to take it but the ball’s blown off the pitch by the wind. When he does take the kick City quickly snuff out any danger.

20:29 – City passing the ball around like a raining match, United get possession but de Gea sends it straight out for a throw-in

20:25 – Walker opens up the United defence again down the right flank, his cross finds De Bruyne but his shot his blocked.

20:22 – Since that goal, it’s been all City. United can’t get near them. Rashford takes down Silva but ref says play on

20:16 – Bernardo Silva: Goal, United – 0 City – 1

Thumping goal from Silva, Walker down the line, pulls the ball back to Silva, no red shirt closes him and he has time to cut in and fire a shot into the far corner, past the outstretched arm of de Gea, who is well beaten.

20:06 – Good counter from United, James sprints down the wing, first cross is cut out but the second                   finds Fred lurking top of the box, his shot his skewed left and hits James who is in an offside                     position.
