Erik ten Hag denies crisis while Unai Emery and Pep Guardiola praise Aston Villa

Erik ten Hag gives honest opinion on Manchester United situation

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has denied claims that the club is in crisis following a 2-1 win against Chelsea last night. He said: “we are moving in the right direction.” United are just 3 points behind rivals Manchester City in the race for Champions League qualification.

Unai Emery questions contender status

Unai Emery remained coy on Aston Villa’s champions league hopes despite a dominant win over Manchester City, he said: “there are seven teams who are contenders more than us.”

Villa Park once again proved to be a fortress as they hosted Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. A deflected Leon Bailey goal gave Emery’s side the 1-0 shock victory, but what was more surprising to the viewers was the manner in which they dominated.

The win brings Villa up to third in the table, but Emery is adamant that they will not get carried away: “While we are there we are going to try keep it. If we keep progressing during the season, playing matches and winning like we are doing maybe we can be a contender but I think we need more time.”

Pep Guardiola emphasises loss of Rodri

After the loss at Aston Villa on Wednesday, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola said they “are struggling.” Not having their holding midfielder, Rodri, seems to be the main problem as City have lost all four games the Spaniard has missed. The manager went on to say: “of course Rodri is so important, but when he is not there, we have to find a way to do it.”
