This session in the Marjon clinic began with a client who did not attend so this hour was spent for revision for the following clients which include special tests for sciatic nerve pain, shoulder pain and ankle pain.

The first client seen was an online appointment with a female who was suffering with ankle pain which was not improving. They described the pain to be anterior to the ankle which sometimes radiated up the shin. After a subjective assessment, they were then booked for a face to face in 2 weeks’ time where further assessment will be carried out including AROM, PROM, RROM, palpation, special tests, and treatment. The clinical impression of this injury was chronic ankle instability and a DDx of medial tibial stress syndrome or an ankle sprain due to the clients previous history of ankle sprains.

The next session was a follow up for a client who had reported sciatic nerve pain however did not attend to the clinic. Revision around this injury was carried out for origin and insertions, special tests and hip assessments.

The final client was for a female with shoulder pain which sometimes radiates down the arm. The mechanism of injury was when they were at work as a detention officer and were breaking up a fight and head a popping sound and had pain ever since. After a shoulder assessment was completed in AROM, PROM and palpations, special tests were also completed with positive tests in Hawkins kennedy, O’Briens and scapula lift off test.

Treatment provided was a massage to the upper fibres of the traps where there was tightness found at the supraspinatus muscle. Mobilisations were also given in PA to the spine to help relieve stiffness in the upper Tx. After treatment the client was shown some stretches which they can complete when at work and some exercises to complete at home. These exercises included isometric ER and abd, banded ER and abd, and active assisted shoulder exercises.

The client will be booked for a follow up appointment after confirmation and after competition of exercises.
