The Bishop of Winchester Academy (TBOWA)

My time at TBOWA consisted of me doing everything from year 7 low ability to year 13 A-levels. A great mixture! I helped out as much as I could and lead a few lessons, clubs and warm-ups.  I had 7 days at Bishop and the last day was a Christmas fest! With a Christmas meal, films and presents all day… with snacks. I really enjoyed working with secondary school students and feel like this is the path I want to travel down.  Shakespeare Primary School

My first day at Shakespeare was Friday 20th April 2018 and I went into it feeling like I knew that I wanted to do secondary not primary. However, within the first hour, my mind started to change and I realised that primary school is amazing! I loved it, it felt more relaxed and if I felt like each new day I taught a student something different and meaningful. Although I do want to focus on PE and in primary school you can’t specialise in a subject, and you’ll have to teach various subjects, which I’m not keen on. All in all, I enjoyed my time at Shakespeare. But I am very much PE focused and determined. I want to teach PE every day for a living, ever since I was young. I think that Secondary school is the right direction I want to go in. This experience in a primary school, outside of my comfort zone taught me many things. One being, to be more patient with students, it can be annoying to repeat yourself a lot, but if you give enough time and effort to a student and stay dedicated to helping them it will pay off, it’s brilliant. The feeling of helping and teaching a student something can’t be compared to anything I’ve ever experienced. Please read my Blog on the right.
