The Bishop of Winchester Academy

13/12/2017 –

7:30 am – Get to school ready for the day

8:00 am – Assembly day, the focus was about organization and being prepared.

8:30 am – Year 10 GCSE class practical football. I help Ian Williams do some drills and mini-games so that they could practice for their moderation in a few months. A few troublemakers but I gave them warnings and they then realized to be sensible and didn’t interrupt again.

9:30 am – When I watch a year 13 A-levels theory lesson, the majority of this class was coursework and not much teaching was involved. However, the students did ask me lots of questions about University and what they could do after A-levels. I hope I helped them make up their mind on what to do in the future.

10:30 – break!

11:00 am – Year 7 class core PE of girls was my next lesson, where we played Swedish long ball, which is a fun game composed of rounder’s, dodgeball and football, they were low ability group but all got involved and seemed to have fun.

12:00 am – Lunch

1:00 pm – year 7 boys’ basketball with Ian Williams, Ian allowed me to take the warm-up (on short notice) but I tried to include a fun activity that could transfer skills into a game. He (without me knowing) told 2 students to be off task and try and to be as off-putting as possible, me not knowing this, gave them a warning each, then after they continued to misbehave I spoke to them individually about their poor behaviour. The third time I had to stop them and send them to Ian. He came around the corner and laughed, along with the whole class, and told me that I did well and didn’t lose my cool. However, I could be more serious and mean what I say, they saw me a nervous. Which I was, but I have learnt to be confident when students are misbehaving.

3:00 pm – home time.

3:00 pm – 5:00 pm – Football club! Like basketball I helped Ian with football club, doing some training and drills, their season is over but they continue to practice for next year.
