Today is my first online clinical booking with a real life patient.

The first hour of being in clinic we learnt how to use the anti-gravity treadmill.

This was interesting to learn about and be shown again how to correctly use the machine. This experience was enjoyable as I was able to ask questions about the machine and also answer questions related to the machine; including when we would use the machine, who we would use the machine with in particular and what percentage of weight we would remove for these patients.

I feel like I didn’t achieve the full experience due to not working the machine myself or even using the machine myself, however I was able to watch and experience the same as the other students.

In preparation for my virtual consultation I was writing down notes and questions of what I needed to ask my client. I then find out that another lecturer was sitting with me and wanting to give feedback of how the online consultation goes. This made me feel even more nervous especially in comparison to the other students as they were partnered up with another student and I felt like I was being assessed almost.

During the virtual consultation i felt it went well considering we had a few technical difficulties with the connection being delayed and having to talk over the phone and wait for the videocall to catch up.

The focus/aim of this consultation was to make sure I got enough information from my client about their injury for preparation of our next steps for recovery. I was able to complete all questions i had prepared for my client at the time. However, after the videocall had ended I felt like it could have gone a lot better. My feedback from my lecturer stated that I had missed out a lot of general questions which I needed to ask my client. This made me feel stupid and less confident as I know that I could have done a lot better, which I also explained to both my supervisor and lecturer which they both agreed and was very understanding of how I felt but also encourage me to not feel so down about how it went as I did ask a lot of questions and was given answers that I can then prepare for next weeks session. The questions I did miss out however will need to be asked next week just to rule out any other possible outcome of injury. Having to ask these questions next week will take up time with my client which I could be using to go through more progress movements and rehabilitation.

So next time I will need to be more prepared with my subjective and objective assessment questions and be more confident with myself about my knowledge and ability to do this.
