Argaum Placement-09/11/19- 2 hours -Pregame

During this session, I was in the training clinic providing pregame treatment to any players that turned up requiring it. The first treatment I provided included massage of the calves to help relieve tightness and warm up the muscles ready for the game. I used hot balm to superficially massage the gastrocnemius and soleus using techniques of effleurage and petrissage to work the muscles and help to relieve the tightness displayed. I then moved on to stretching the calf muscles using a MET with the player lying on their front with their ankle over the end of the bed. I then got them to dorsiflex their foot to their maximal stretch and added overpressure ensuring they were adding resistance for 10-15 seconds before relaxing for 5 seconds while I increase the stretch and repeating 3 times through.

I then taped the shoulder of another player to help stabilize the shoulder after a subluxation. This is important to support the player to help prevent the injury from occurring again. I used K-tape to provide stability however, allow the player enough movement to play using the correct technique and not have restricted movement.

Areas for improvement:

One area that could have been improved would be the best way to tape a shoulder for stability however, this all depends on how the client feels supported so to improve upon this, I will get feedback from the player on how the k-tape felt during the game and if they felt week in any areas of the shoulder and provide treatment for the next time as a result of this.

Improving my knowledge of how to increase strength and stability of the shoulder using resistance bands to help to prevent the injury from occurring in the long run.
