20/02/2020- Argaum Placement- Training- 1.5 hours

During this session, I spent 1.5 hours in the training clinic at Argaum men’s rugby club providing treatment to any players that require it. During this session, I performed taping of the knee for a player returning from an ACL injury. They have been doing rehabilitation with another therapist and upon their return to the training, they wished to have taping done to help support the knee. For this is used 3 strands of K tape as well as compression tape. The first strand stretched horizontally across the middle of the ACL the next two strands started from the lateral side of the leg below the knee crossed over the ACL and across to the medial side of the leg above the knee and from the medial side of the leg below the knee across the ACL to the lateral side of the leg above the knee. The compression tape was then applied. Although compression tape is said to reduce movement in the knee for this situation a slightly limited range of motion was aimed to be achieved and therefore was perfect for this player. This tape started above the knee around the thigh and ended below the knee allowing a gap at the back of the knee to help decrease the limitations of movement but keep the knee stabilized.

The next treatment was for a supraspinatus impingement of the shoulder and therefore I used Kt Tape to help support and stabilize the shoulder for this player.

The final treatment was not for an injury but to help with injury prevention. I taped the thumbs and wrists of a player that lifts in the line out as this was one of the main focuses of the training session this evening.
