24/02/2020- Marjon Women’s Rugby- Pitchside Training-2hrs

During this session, I spent 2 hours pitchside during a Marjon women’s training session. The training sessions warm-up included running around the pitch to get the muscles warm, Then moving onto a mobility session making sure to work the full body as everything is involved during rugby. Next was a non-contact aspect of the session working on tactical work and skill-specific work such as passing and moving drills, long passes, and touch rugby games. This allows the players to put their skills into practice while in a game situation without contact. The next part of the session was the tackle bags so the players could practice the correct tackling technique before going into a contact training game to ensure that they do not injure themselves or any other player due to a poor tackling technique.

Areas for improvement:

During this session, I let the other therapist lead the warm-up although it was planned together due to not being confident in front of the number of players that were around, and therefore that is something I need to improve upon. I will do this by putting myself outside my comfort zone and making myself do it. Confidence in something can only come when putting yourself in that situation and to improve that is what I need to do.
