01/02/2020- Pre-Game- Argaum Placement- 1.5hrs

During this session, I had a previous client who has been attending the last 3 sessions to have their calf massaged and taped to help them in their rehabilitation from an Achilles tendon rupture and tear in the gastrocnemius. This player has been tirelessly adhering to their rehabilitation program to recover fully and get back to the game. Today, we have adapted their taping technique to a combination of both mine and the other therapist’s methods of taping for these injuries to benefit the client how they see best. This is because tonight they will be returning to training with the rest of the team participating in as much of the warm-up session that they feel comfortable with doing before the game. This is to ensure they do not feel left out, that they’ll be replaced, lose friends or any other psychological effects that can come with being off injured from a sports team. Next training session they will be joining in for the full training session and all aspects that they are comfortable with. This player is showing great improvements and it would be nice to see other players adhering to rehabilitation like this.

Areas for improvement:

I do not feel I have any further improvements for this session with regards to my treatment however, I feel that it is needed to promote the work that we do with rehabilitation throughout the team and make them aware that they don’t just have to be back training to get treatment and that they can come and do the rehabilitation with us. Also, it is important to try and inform the players of the importance of adhering to a rehabilitation program and make them aware of the benefits of early intervention and rehabilitation and how much it can impact the players.
This is something I will have to speak to the other therapist about and we can then work out a way to get the player involved and increase adherence.
