29/02/2020-Argaum Placement Pre-Game- 3hrs

During this session, I spent 3 hours in the training clinic providing pre-game treatment to any players that felt they needed it. The first treatment of this session consisted of a massage of the hamstrings followed by hamstring stretches using the SLR and the MET technique followed by MET stretching of the quadriceps by getting the player to lay on their front and try to touch the heel of the foot to the glutes. I then add overpressure and get them to resist me pushing them down by trying to kick their heel away from the body holding it for 30 seconds, relaxing for 10 seconds, and repeating the same process 3 times.

The next treatment was glute activation exercises with resistance bands by getting the player to put the resistance band around their ankles and crab walk as shown by the player performing it in the video below.

Areas for improvement:

Today’s game was an away game and therefore I did not have access to the usual equipment I would have when at a home game. This meant that I did not have a resistance band of my own. However, one of the players had bought one with them for their own personal warm-up and allowed me to use it for the player doing the glute activation. It would be beneficial to invest in some resistance bands to take with me to away games and be kept in the medic bag so this does not happen again,

I also did not have a wide variety of knowledge when it came to specific exercises to do for the glues we ran through around 3-4 however, I will do some research and produce a list to run through as part of a warm-up for all the players in the next game.
