24/02/2020- Marjon Women’s Rugby- PreTraining Clinic- 1hr

During this session, I spent one hour in the training clinic performing resistance band exercises for shoulder strengthening and stability for a player recovering from a rotator cuff injury. This session consisted of using various different positions to ensure a full range of motion was achieved using the resistance bands. Using the surrounding equipment to attach the bands too, to ensure they were stable and the motion required could be completed. We went through Flexion, extension, internal rotation at waist height, internal rotation at shoulder height, external rotation at shoulder height, external rotation at waist height, abduction, adduction, horizontal adduction, horizontal abduction. We started the session with a medium resistance band if the movement caused the player pain they lowered to a low resistance band and if the movement did not cause pain they progressed to a higher resistance band unless the pain was caused at this level and they stuck on the medium resistance.

Areas for improvement:

During this session, I feel like I adapted well to the types of resistance bands lowering and increasing intensity to suit the player. I also feel that I adapted to the environment and used the surroundings to the best of my ability although this was challenging and was dependent on trial and error to get the correct movements this has allowed me to expand my knowledge of the area and how to adapt under pressure.
